When teaching your dog to walk without pulling, keep the leach short but not tight to put your dog into the position you want, while still giving enough slack to let him know that he’s doing the right thing.

Leash pops on a training car can be given for any excitement or reactivity so long as your timing is good; ie when your dog is THINKING about it.
Signs to look for: ears forward
head up
staring
tense body
prancing
quickening pace
whining, grunting
If your dog is barking and/or rearing up and lunging, you’ve waited too long and should walk away from the distraction to give your dog the chance to calm down again.
